Oh, where shall I start? The midth of September was a personally bad one, but the seperation of a fresh relationship didn't hold me back to go on supporting warm-hearted Hip Hop artists. Rapper Faun (Club der Menschen crew) was ready for an interview and invited me to come to Dr. Drunkadelic's crib when they were about to start FREATZ. What FREATZ is? Click here to get to the description. I was curious to see Freatz behind the scenes, because the first time when I the show live, I immediately became a fan. FREATZ has awaken my fascination for freestyle rap. Click here to read my first impressions of FREATZ. However, the 21st of September was a bad day for FREATZ-team.
Getting ready with the intro
After watching Formula 1 that took place in Singapur on that day, the usual FREATZ-stress began. I was in a very sad mood and had no chance to interview rapper Faun. So I just watched him setting up the equipment for the show together with DJ Dr. Drunkadelic and rapper X-L.E.O. (Club der Menschen crew). They called the studio: Dr. Drunkadlic's ordination. | ||

With Faun's Go Pro-camera, we went into the garden. It was time to make the intro of Freatz. If you watch FREATZ regularly, you'll know that its team always got some amusing and creative intro for the show. On that day, it was a nice card trick made by Faun.
getting a guest rapper
Inside the house, Faun cut the film material of the intro at his MacBook and tried to upload it. Rapper Noah (Kopf an Kopf ab crew; two-time winner of Dreistil freestyle battle) was invited as a guest rapper for the show. He could not come, he was partying too hard at a release party. I met and talked with him at the party. A fascinating artist! How shall one handle with Noah's refusal? Professionally like Faun did on that day. He was calling his rap community to get another guest rapper and after ten minutes on the phone, Faun had Mahiyo's confirmation.last preparations: sound check, pizza and light check
In the late afternoon, it was time to check the sound quality. Faun was on the phone again getting two friends who were helping out with the sound check. The sound check reminded me of a general rehearsal. DJ Dr. Drunkadelic was giving the beats, X-L.E.O. and Faun rapped in freestyle and their two friends told them via live chat whose volume was too loud or too low. Have you ever heard a freestyle rap about volumes? I didn't, so I was really fascinated and amused when I realized that they can rap about everything spontaneously in FREESTYLE! |

20:00 - time to get on air professionally
Guest rapper Mahiyo was on time and on 8 o'clock in the evening, it was time to get on air. Faun had a solution for the missing intro. He made the card trick live. All in all, the show was fun to listen to, especially with the beats of DJ Dr. Drunkadelic. Mahiyo had a smooth, low voice and gave the show changement with freestyle rap in English. All four were a professional team, indeed. Even when Faun's MacBook broke down during the show, no-one was panicing and everyone kept on doing the show until they were back on air. |
