Beli Vuk - Rap Bombardement (background information)

Hello, Viennese Hip Hop Fans!

Beli Vuk released a new track on the 16th of June! It's called "Rap Bombardement". But before I give you the link to this new song, I must tell you that I took the chance to interview him (again via facebook) and ask him some questions about this song.

inspiration

It's hard to describe how one get inspired. Me, myself can't even describe my own way of getting inspired. It's indescribeable. But when artists try, it says a lot about themselves. :D So this was Beli Vuk's answer to my question of how he gets inspired:

"When I listen to a beat I like, I fall in love with it every time I listen to it again. And then the words just come out. The beat whispers me what to write. I know it sounds weird but that's the way it is." - Beli Vuk

influenced by French rap

Beli Vuk's love to French rap can be heard throughout the song. From the French title "Rap Bombardement" (meaning: rap bombing") to the main messages in the song, it's strongly influenced by French rap. What that means? It means spreading knowledge about life in the district the rapper is living. This is also called "knowledge rap". Here some examples:

knowledge rap

"Vienna 10[th district]' standard is turning from a sandpit into a punch bag" - Beli Vuk in "Rap Bombardement"
(original: "Wien 10 von der Sandkiste zum Sandsack"). The third line of the first stanza is mind blowing for all those who do not live in Vienna's 10th district. This line describes the violence and development of kids that live in the 10th district of Vienna. In other lines of the same stanza, you can hear the reason of this district's problems: arrogance. Beli Vuk is just pointing at facts and the behaviour of most of this district's citizens.

"Bitch, don't be so sickly arrogant! / You are so puffed with conceit that your nose touches the ground of the moon. Don't you think that a beard makes you a man. You are skin and bane. And your eyes are like gollom's they are almost falling out." - Beli Vuk in "Rap Bombardement"

attitude

At the moment, Beli Vuk is the only Hip Hop artist we, bloggers, support but don't know personally. So I was surprised when he mentioned his criminal past when I asked him about the inspiration of this song.

"Everyone in my environment know about my criminal past. And with this track, I want to show that I don't deny this and close this chapter at the same time. BUT the main message I want to give through this song is my opinion about humanity." - Beli Vuk

I have given him my respect because not everyone who had a criminal past would have an attitude like him. And in general, I'm strictly against stigmatisation. Stigmatisation doesn't help anybody and it only make things worse. And anyway, Hip Hop is about "Peace, Love, Unity and Having Fun" and not about commiting crimes and being proud of it. So show some reaspect, show some love to Beli Vuk's song, to indicate peace and unity and simply enjoy listening to this song!
