Epos, Kaul Kwappen & Daniel Malik

I was happy to have had a talk with Dreistil's organisators, Epos, Kaul Kwappen and Daniel Malik. They told me about Vienna's rappers scene and their dream of Dreistil. You can find Epos' short biography in the Artist page above or on the right side of the blog, where you can also find the archived blog entries. I respect that Kaul Kwappen and Daniel Malik want to be kept at the sidelines. This means you will not find any information about them in this blog.

ARL & Kopf an Kop ab-crew (Böser Wolf, Noah, Kschsisch)

Last Monday, I interviewed ARL, a participant of Dreistil's kick off event which took place on the 22nd of May. He won the first round of Dreistil's acapella battle against Böser Wolf and will battle against JerMC in the final round on the 26th of June for fame and 200 Euro. We talked a lot about different types of rappers like freestyler, gangster rappers, rappers that make rap and/or Hip Hop music, rappers that are talented with music instruments and rappers that simply write down their words but never record them. I asked him, "So what makes a rapper a rapper?" His answer was life changing to me. "Yes, it's true that there are different types of rappers. But the most important thing is to be authentic, to be at peace with the world and oneself in everything you do." Well, after this inspiring interview with ARL at Schwedenplatz, I collected all information I got and wrote the short biography about him.

Next Saturday, I will meet Böser Wolf and Kschsisch at the so called "Fest der Reime" in Einbaumöbel to interview them for a short biography. Together with Noah, they belong to the crew "Kopf an Kopf ab". Let's see who wants to be part of HHVB. :D

DJ Funky P and Beli Vuk

The Dreistil-team gave me the contact info to DJ Funky P far before the Dreistil - Kick off took place on the 22nd of May. DJ Funky P wrote me an e-mail with the hard facts about his DJ-career and I had the chance to see and hear him at the Dreistil - Kick off. I was impressed that he belongs to the DJs that still work with Vinyl! I felt honoured and thankful that he wanted to be a part of HHVB because every Hip Hop fan must have heard his music!

Yesterday, Beli Vuk posted a link to his youtube channel in the facebook-group "Hip-Hop in WIEN" and I asked him straight away if he needs promotion. He is the first one I interviewed via facebook. I'm not a fan of impersonal interviews but it was indeed interesting. Eminem was his very first inspiration of becoming a rapper and his philosophical attitude about rap music was interesting to me. He wrote, "Rappers are the philosophers of the 21st century. Goethe [one of the most famous German speaking poets ever] would shake our hands. And besides, no other music genre has so many facettes like rap music." I'm happy to have interviewed a rapper with Serbian roots because this shows that Vienna is multicultural.

Summary and upcoming short biographies

Now you can find short biographies of three rappers and one DJ that work in Vienna's Hip Hop scene. These are short biographies of Epos, ARL, Beli Vuk and DJ Funky P. I plan to interview Kopf an Kopf ab-crew consisting of Böser Wolf, Noah and Kschsisch. Stella plans to get information about some dancers. Much work is coming up to unite Vienna's Hip Hop culture, but we do it for peace, love, unity and having fun!
